Oh, How I Miss You Blogfest

Wow, what an adventure.  We are back in New Zealand.  Yes, after 26 countries, 4 continents and 2 boxes of diarrhea pills we have returned home.

Our first day home seems a funny time to participate in a blog hop.  If you are wondering, “Rhonda, what were you thinking when you signed up for the “Oh, How I Miss You Blogfest” don’t worry, you are not alone, I am wondering the same.

favorite humor blogsMaybe it is because I wasn’t actually in Casablanca yesterday.  I blogged everyday as we traveled. The blog fell behind from days without internet.  This explains the math, we didn’t complete 42 hours of travel in just a day, we have been getting over our jet-lag for a bit.

The idea behind this blogfest is to “highlight bloggers we really miss…and the ones we would really miss!” So, lets get started with:

The Bloggers I Miss:

With a slight twist of the guidelines I offer  my apologies to the bloggers I miss the most as they are the ones I had to stop following while I traveled.  They are still out there, but I was so busy climbing mountains, cruising the seas, riding on strange animals, eating random foods, visiting more churches, castles, mosques and Kasbahs that I can count and of course, complaining about unsanitary (at best) toilet conditions, that I seemed absent from their blogging world.

My list is long, the rules say 1-3, so the first three to come to mind are Julie of Empty Nest Insider, Tara of Tara Tyler Talks and Alex of Alex J. Cavanaugh (co-host of today’s blogfest along with Andrew Leon, Matthew MacNish)

The Bloggers I Would Miss (oh, please don’t ever go!):

Again, the rules suggest only three.  (Sorry Tony, if the Laugh Line blogged more often you would have made the list).  As we traveled there were three bloggers who followed us everyday, helped us out when we needed it and always made me laugh.  So not only are they the bloggers I would most miss, this is a great opportunity for me to say thanks to BeThere2Day, Comedy Plus and Catch My words.

Here is a recent favorite joke from each:

BeThere2Day: I have no idea where Steve so many very funny laughs nearly everyday    Here is one of my all time favorite laughs from BeThere2Day:

Comedy Plus: Right from reading her name I knew I was going to be at home here with Sandee. Another great place to visit for a laugh or sometimes a quick story or inspiration.  From a recent post:

Great truths about success in life

At age 4 success is . . . not peeing in your pants.
At age 12 success is . . . having friends.
At age 16 success is . . . having a drivers license.
At age 20 success is . . . having sex.
At age 35 success is . . . having money.
At age 50 success is . . . having money.
At age 60 success is . . . having sex.
At age 70 success is . . . having a drivers license.
At age 75 success is . . . having friends.
At age 80 success is . . . not peeing in your pants.

Catch My Words: What can I say?  Joyce is funny.  Lucky for me, we were roommates in Uni.  Never a dull moment.  Responsibilities were limited.  Life was good.  Where else can you find things like this math joke:

About Rhonda Albom

When I met my hubby he was looking for a traveling companion. Together we have moved to New Zealand and visited over 42 countries, most with our now teenage girls. Things rarely go as planned, and generally we have an amusing tale to tell. That's what Laugh Quotes is about - the fun side of our adventures and our expat life.

    • Of course you would be on my list. I am just sorry I missed most of 2012. I knew you would like that joke. And, thanks for following us around the world.

  5. I have found some new blogs to read. Thanks for stopping by JTC.

  6. Wow, thank you Rhonda. I really appreciate the mention. I also rearrange Silly Sunday so you could start being the host again. It’s good to have you home even though you missed out on a couple of weeks. I know you’ll enjoy being home too. It’s good to go, but it’s always good to come home.

Have a terrific day and thanks again for the shout-out. :)

    • The shout out was easy. You, Steve and Joyce (and Lynne and Tony, but they don’t have daily blogs) followed my entire journey and were always there when I needed help. So big thank you! More importantly, Comedy Plus really is one of my favorite blogs, so it was a natural choice all the way around.

  7. I haven’t participated in the blogfest. But maybe I should. Wow…what an adventure you and your family has had.

  8. Welcome back Rhonda! It was so nice of you to mention me! I really have missed you too, and I’m sure that it wasn’t easy for you to keep in touch while you were globe trotting. I’m going to do some major editing right now! Thanks again, Julie!

    • Aside from the lack of time, we generally had limited or no internet. Blogging to share my adventure was often all I could do. Glad you were able to follow along. As for my verse, I love it! Thanks.

  9. Great list of bloggers you would miss. My best friend wants to take a trip to New Zealand. I kind of do too, but he just wants to see all the Hobbit stuff. I don’t think I’m that much of a nerd, but it is kind of intriguing. But to go all the way to New Zealand just for that? I think I might try to convince him to see the cave with the glowing worms.
Michael Offutt recently posted..Dear Munk Davis Oh How I Miss YouMy Profile

    • I love New Zealand, and would recommend a trip here to anyone, but not for the Hobbit stuff. As we were gone and missed the entire thing, I can only guess here – but when they did Lord of the Rings, they were required to take down 100% of the anything they added. So the tours just take you to the spots and tell you what was there for the movies. We saw similar in some of the spots Gladiator was filmed in Morocco. Not really that interesting – on the other hand, we loved seeing some of the historical sites used in the Sound of Music. So there you have it, a non-answer.

The glow worm caves are pretty cool.

  10. Hi Rhonda,

    What a great blog.

You lead quite an exciting life. I hope you’re getting caught up on sleep.
Thanks for the follow. I’m not sure it took, though. There’s a weird cross-over (or lackthereof) between wordpress and blogspot. When you have time, if you would kindly check to see if you are following, that’d be great. I’ve joined your networked blog fans.

  12. Hi there!

I love humor–will have to check out the comedy blog.

I visited New Zealand a few years ago–BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  13. Couldn’t do this without Alex. And Matthew is on my list, too. Julie is so funny and Tara so creative! Great choices!!

    • Thanks. I didn’t know Matthew before today, but I am glad we shared 3 others on our lists. Since we seem to have the same tastes, I am now following you too.

  14. That iPad image is one of my favorites. I saw it floating around Facebook and it had me cracking up for a long time. Definitely gotta check out Steve’s blog. Thanks for sharing.

  21. I followed your travels every day, Rhonda. I may not have commented as often as I should have but I really did enjoy travelling vicariously with you… My favourite part was most definitely Morocco – it just seemed to be the “fullest” portion.
    Robin recently posted..Sunday sillinessMy Profile

    • Wow, thanks Robin. I think my favorite was Morocco also, with close seconds of Oman and Moscow – and some of the ruins in the UK, and the Arabic influences in Southern Spain, and . . . oh, never mind.

  22. Thank you for the mention Rhonda much appreciated. :-)

Well that seemed to go quite quickly now your back home, what a great experience you have all had :-)
