I can hardly believe our girls have been in school for a month already. So the question over coffee this morning, what do we think – homeschool vs private school? Have we made a good choice taking a break from travel and putting our teens in school for the first time? Are the girls happy? What does the school think, are we making a good impression? Should we pull the plug, pack the bags and head back on the road?
Too much to tackle on a Friday morning, so I’ll just review the day so far. So, let’s compare the old and the new, homeschool vs private school:
Homeschool vs Private School
The start to the day
| Homeschool→ | Sleep until we are ready to get up. |
| School → | Alarm clock wakes me in the middle of an awesome dream. |
| +1 Homeschool | |
| Homeschool→ | Relaxed, casual dress, even pajamas if we want. |
| School → | Pressed and clean uniforms everyday. |
| +1 Homeschool | |
| Homeschool→ | Just add a hat on a bad hair day. |
| School → | Neat and tidy, conservative style tied with a black or blue ribbon |
| +1 Homeschool | |
| Homeschool→ | Study, swim, culture, tour, museum we decide on the day. |
| School → | Load our girls into the car and drive to school. |
| +1 Homeschool |
Add making lunch before breakfast and my life actually seems more hectic.
That is until they are gone for the morning. Then it is coffee with hubby on the deck (from the first week):

Relaxing and slowing down for a while isn’t so bad.
+1 Private School
And a few other points:
Girls are happy, they are making new friends, problem solving and participating in a whole array of new sports.
+3 Private School
Final score, Homeschool 4, Private School 4
We will give it another month, although I do have itchy feet that are ready to get back on the road.
I don’t want you to leave here without laughing at me at least once, so I thought I would share a little school incident from yesterday:
ME: Is this where I leave things for my daughter?
SCHOOL: Yes, what is this?
ME: It’s her lunch.
SCHOOL: Does she know to come and pick it up?
ME: Yes, she text me to let me know she forgot it . . . oh, s%*& . . . oh sorry . . . she’s not supposed to text, is she . . . did I just get her in trouble.

Looks pretty even to me. I’m sure they will have a fabulous time and make tons of new friends. I’m positive.
You look mighty comfy and I think that counts for way more.
Have a terrific day.

Thanks Sandee, I took a break from my comfy coffee to comment
it’s about time for you to have some me time
It does seem to go quickly though.
It’s a toss up. But having to cope with difficulties is a good thing. We went through that with our two. In the end it was good. They were glad too. The teachers they had were quite high-level, and they enjoyed what they learned. But the best part of all was their friends, who stick with them to this day.
But I have to say that the uniform with a black hair ribbon was a bit much for my mind to bend around. If I could add a smiley face with a tongue sticking out I would!
Um – I have to say that your spot on the porch looks awfully good to me! It’s polluted here today. Nice to see some blue! And that cup of coffee… yum.

Interesting way to analyze schooling. I don’t think I’ve read a breakdown like this before. It seems very logical and scientific.

LOL – I am hoping people are reading this in the light-hearted joking manner in which it was written, I mean, it the logical and scientific manner
I say keep them in the school; that deck looks too comfortable, and the coffee too inviting.

My hubby does make the best coffee, and my view is pretty relaxing. Yes, I think you are correct
Lol too funny about the text!!! As soon as they get back on the road, they’ll just start missing their friends
Not my finest moment. I am glad it made you laugh.
