I posted our Portugal trip a bit out of order to save Evora for Wordless Wednesday. After all, what can you say about a chapel made of the bones of 5,000 bodies:

The saying over the doorway translates to: “we bones are waiting here for yours to join us.”

A few other interesting shots in Evora – the Roman Temple at night:

Eerie, creepy, interesting, beautiful – what is your view of the Chapel of Bones?
Evora Travel Tips:
- Spend the night in Evora and visit the Roman Temple at night when it is lit up.
- Stop at the Tourism Office and for only 2 Euros you can get an audio tour of the main city sites. (And it was interesting!)
- You can also fill up your water bottle for free at the tourism office.
- If you eat pork, try one of the local special meals, just ask your server and they will point out which ones are local.
Albom Family Travel Counter:
We are in our fifth month of our 250 day overseas adventure. We are currently traveling through Spain for two weeks between two home exchange houses – the first in Catalunya, the second in Galicia. If you don’t want to miss any of our adventure you can:

It is one bizarre place.
Now here’s a place I’d love to visit. Italy has always been on my list. Right after Germany and Switzerland.
Have a fabulous time.

It’s about 1.5 hours from Lisbon, and worth the trip. I hope you make it here one day.
It’s quite gruesome but cool too.

That is how I felt about it.
Kind of Creepy for a Chapel! Who were all those people anyway?
PLU from SSF
Apparently they were dug up from the local grave yard.
Yes, a wee bit creepy.

Standing in it, I thought it was quite a bit creepy.
Eww… and wow, and another emotion that I’m having a hard time putting into words. This is the stuff nightmares are made of.
What is the “special” pork meal you mentioned? After all the human bone photos, I’m envisioning something very weird.

The menu had several “local specials” all of which were pork. The one I had was some sort of pork served on a mashed bread soaked in some broth and spices – It doesn’t sound very good when I describe it, but it was wonderful.
Eerie! Great captures though.
Mine’s here.

Thanks. It was an eerie place.
That is totally creepy, yet utterly fascinating. I cannot look away! Have a great WW!

That is exactly how I felt. I kept thinking, eeww, I need to get out of here, but wait, one more photo.
Your fifth month. wow.
We are slowing down now. Longer stays in fewer places.
oh wow! This looks like a very interesting creepy place! Will put that on my list of places to visit!
Interesting and creepy are both good words to describe it. There are several cool things to see in Evora, the Chapel of Bones is he most bizarre.
Oh my god, I think it is a little bit disgusting. I am sure I won’t take my son in there, it is horrible.

Thanks Monica. And welcome to Laugh quotes.
Visits here are always a blast!! Have a great week and thanks for the laughs.

When you say “blast” I hope you are referring to Laugh Quotes rather than the Chapel of Bones
That’s definitely a unique and interesting place to visit.

Unique and interesting – or freaky and bizarre. Not sure which are the best adjectives.
