This really transpired this week . . .
Me: It is your turn to wash the dishes.
Her: But I am really tired and I want to take a nap. (This never happens. She stopped napping 10 years ago).
Me: Ok, fine, go take a nap.
Fifteen minutes later dishes are washed, dried and the kitchen is cleaned up, and guess who is back.
Her: Mum, can I play computer games?
Me: I thought you were tired and wanted to take a nap.
Her: I did take a nap.
Me: For 15 minutes?
Her: Yes.
Me: Just long enough for the dishes to get done?
Her: I guess. Please can I play computer games . . .
And if that’s not enough, the next day I had this conversation with my tired teen . . .
Her: Mum, I need a new hair brush.
Me: What happened to your hair brush?
I got the look.
Me: When did it happen?
Her: huh?
Me: Why didn’t you tell me last week when I bought a new one for your sister? They were on sale if we bought two. You said you didn’t need one, remember?
Her: Need one what?
Me: A hair brush.
Her: I don’t need a hair brush.
Just so my baby doesn’t feel left out . . .
Me: Call your friend to confirm your playdate.
Her: I think this is the number.
Dialing
Her: Hi, this is xxx from Guides
I can hear talking through the phone, but my daughter is saying nothing, just a blank stare at the phone. Then her eyes go wide and she hands the phone to me, with that “oops, sorry” look in her eyes.
Me: Hello?
Unfamiliar Voice: Hello.
Me: Who’s this?
Unfamiliar Voice: This is Stephanie, some little girl just rang me and then stopped talking.
Me: Oh, sorry it was my daughter, she dialed wrong and panicked and handed the phone to me.
Never a dull moment around here.
For my readers who love to laugh, don’t forget Silly Sunday will be back again this week. Simply post a joke and link up. New Zealand is the first country in the world to see each new day, so I will open up the linky on New Zealand Sunday – which is still Saturday in most of the world. I have spent hours trying to get the grab the button to work, with no luck. (Thanks Steve from Bethere2Day for the help.) Actually my tired teen tried to help and found somewhere on-line that it is a know wordpress bug.
So if you are more computer talented than me, feel free to screen capture the button and link it to: http://www.laugh-quotes.com/silly-sunday-meme/

never a dull moment so did she really need a hair brush or was she just having a moment?

LOL – I don’t know, I never followed up. As soon as she said it, I wrote it down so I wouldn’t forget the conversation.
Yep, I remember those silly conversations. I used to just shake my head all the time.
I’m ready for Silly Sunday this week. I’ve got my post all set up so there.
Have a terrific day.

I used to shake my head, now I write them down and blog about it
Can’t wait to see what you have for Sunday – you are one of the funniest people I know, so I am sure it will be a good one.
To this day, I hate doing the dishes lol. We have a system at our house, where every night, either my brother or myself does the dishes. I sometimes just allow him to think it’s his turn, when it’s actually mine lol
I am sure my girls would love to know how you convinced him that it was his turn
Welcome to Laugh Quotes.
OMG – your girls are very funny.
Yep, and they don’t even do it on purpose.
The curse survives. It cannot be killed. (I can’t wait for you to have kids who do unto you what you do to me.) Issued to Rhonda regularly while she was growing up.
Dad
Dad, I distinctly remember you telling me that you removed the curse. I guess it really won’t die. – LOL
And what do teens have to be tired about?

I guess being moody and argumentative is tiring.
I had a 13 yr. old violin student that would insist at every lesson that he was too tired to stand up for an hour. Even though there were no chairs in the room – and I stood the entire time, he would plop himself down on the floor 5 – 6 times during each lesson. Perhaps there are aliens draining the teens of all their energy? Ooh – I am tired, need to log-off now! LOL
LOL – I hadn’t thought about the alien angle. Good point, maybe next time I will just do the dishes myself without asking her. LOL -not gonna happen
They probably get exhausted watching you do everything! You handled the brush with a phone call well! It’s good that you’re keeping track of these things!

LOL Julie, when I first started writing Laugh Quotes I would often think, “I should blog about this.” Now, I write it down as soon as it happens, otherwise I forget.
One bit of fun I have is reminding the kids, who are now adults and going through it with their kids, how they actually acted when they were young. They don’t believe me, they think they were angels. My niece’s daughter is about to turn into a teen, and I tell my niece that everything she did to her mom will now come back double. it’s funny to see the expression on her face.
